Our hearts are with Susan Lucci

Susan Lucci’s life is a powerful story of determination, grace, and enduring love. Known to millions for her iconic role on All My Children, Lucci’s journey has been shaped not only by her career but by the quiet strength she’s shown through personal challenges and triumphs.

Raised in a modest household by hardworking parents—her mother a nurse and her father a construction contractor—Lucci was the youngest child and quickly stood out for her academic dedication and vibrant personality. A cheerleader and honors student, she later studied drama at Marymount College in New York. Though she competed in the Miss Universe pageant’s New York State finals, she chose to step away at her father’s encouragement to focus on her education—an early decision that reflected her strong values and close family ties. She would later honor her late father in heartfelt tributes, recalling the life lessons he taught her.

Lucci’s rise to fame came through years of dedication to her craft. As Erica Kane on All My Children, she became one of daytime television’s most beloved and enduring stars. Yet, behind the scenes, her journey was filled with deeply personal challenges. In her 2011 memoir, she opened up about private struggles, including the loss of loved ones and supporting her husband, Helmut Huber, through health issues—all while maintaining her professional commitments and public poise.

In 2019, Lucci faced a serious health scare of her own when doctors discovered a 90% blockage in a main artery. Prompt medical care and a successful surgery likely saved her life. Then, in 2022, she underwent a second procedure after recognizing familiar symptoms. Encouraged by her husband, she sought care in time. Since then, Lucci has become an advocate for heart health awareness, especially among women, urging others not to dismiss early warning signs.
